I did a bit of an experiment - I intentionally stopped reading any Twilight-related news for a few weeks. I also tried to be 'more critical' of the cast (but that's another story).

 - - - |
I think I learned a few things - as the days passed, I felt that I'm missing 'something' but I remained relentless and adamant in my 'exercise'. The thing is, I know which sites are important to me - the enjoyment and the fascination of reading news, injected with the writer's personal touch seems like the most important. I missed that first and foremost. I guess, it takes more than a big community or a dazzling blog design to keep Twilighters like me 'at home'. So, I asked myself, which Twilight sites I find I missed the most and why they ought to be considered tMF's top 3 Twilight Fansites... Find out why after the jump!

FANSITE OF THE MONTH: Jim Sturgess Online |

Site of the Month

Some of the most amazing and beautiful sites on the net are created by fans of movie stars. As a webmaster, I have some idea of how difficult it is to create a website - design and development wise. It is equally important to have dedicated people who will manage the site and update it with fresh, interesting content. In salute to some of the best fansites out there, The Movie-Fanatic is launching its fourth Fansite of the Month.

 - - - |
JimSturgessOnline is a fansite dedicated to the talented British actor Jim Sturgess. As a fan of the actor himself, I often visit the site for the latest news and updates - what is Jim up to at the moment? Is he joining the cast of a new movie? Are there video clips I could watch featuring the actor? Are there new (even archived) interviews that will help me get to know Jim more as an actor and as a person? These questions and a lot more I expect to get answers from JSO. At the moment, I have to say I'm more than happy with the results. As our latest fansite of the month, we asked the co-founders of JSO - Liz and Diane - what makes JSO the awesome, quality and entertaining fansite I have come to know the past months...

I'm going to say my piece on 3 Twilight fansites today. I've visited them already weeks back, and have returned a couple of times. I am quite familiar with each sites' 'look and feel' and the 'voice' of the author or authors (if they have a voice, that is!). My search for the next Top 3 Twilight fansites is gathering momentum and I know, its getting more and more difficult, but I started doing this months back. What's the difference today? Honestly, a lot! The mere number of the sites is simply staggering. No wonder, the chance for me missing a few quality sites has been quite evident... So, the spotlight is on...
The first thing that comes to mind when asked: How would you describe Cullen Boys Anonymous? One word: Comprehensive. A fansite can focus entirely on news, post like there's no tomorrow, grab photos here and there, even copy articles from the big sites. Cullen Boys Anonymous stands out because you now how much effort is put into every post. Bringing the latest news is not enough for CBA - an issue, an event, a controversy, the latest casting news and other subjects worthy of publication is expanded - not condensed. You can be sure you get to read more than what you've just heard already. You get to know more about the why's and the how's... There is also this 'passionate' tone on many of the articles.

I'm half-way through my visits and will post my impressions about some of the new Twilight fansites that have impressed me. Among the new sites I'm featuring in my next blog-a-thon are:
Cullen Boys Anonymous
Twitarded
Twilight Poison
Twilight Guide
Twilight Source
But I wanted to ask fellow Twilight fans their personal favorites: Among the new Twilight fansites (12 of them), listed in our featured poll, which one is your top favorite?
You're only to choose one site and can only vote once a day, but this poll will run for 5 days.
The list is not all-inclusive and some sites which you might like a lot maybe missing. That's why I made this post, to allow everyone the chance to give me some heads-up and list down some of the sites I missed.
The site with the most number of votes will be tMF Viewers' Choice: Top Favorite Twilight Fansite. During our last poll, it was Twilighters Anonymous which got the largest number of votes. See the previous result from the TA site itself.

I'm lazy when it comes to filling up forms, and that includes registration for membership of any online community. In this case the chaotic, endearing, controversial, unpredictable Twilight community. But I was compelled to register and become a member of this one particular Twilight site.
I dunno, perhaps I like the site layout or maybe I just felt 'at home' and decided to try and become a member. So far so good... I actually am enjoying myself and is planning to do a detailed look and try the many nifty features available to all members.
Oh, the site is no other than TwiFans!
I just love the short welcome intro:
TwiFans.com is a social networking website devoted to all things Twilight. This is a place where you don't have to be embarrassed to obsess, talk, blog, live chat and add photos about Twilight with others just like you. Consider them your new TwiFriends. You have your own personal page that you can customize, design your back ground, , add photos and widgets, and add music. Blog on just your page, or to all the TwiFan members & the world. You can join groups and have discussion forums on topics that interest you. We are interested in what you are interested in. We are TwiSpace!
Twilight for the people by the people!

For the people, by the people. How democratic right? Actually, the 'democratic' aspect of the site has enabled members to really participate and consider TwiFans as their own. It's hard to convince members to start their own blog and post original content right?
But it seems a lot of TwiFan members find it worthwhile to do just that and much more.

Excuse my absence for days. I had an accident - very painful and quite frightening but I'm alive. If I'm a vampire, I'd probably used my superpowers, read the mind of the idiot driver who smashed his truck into our car and go after him. I will not hesitate to kick his ass and let him drown in the dirty river filled with the filthiest of garbage...
Heck, back to the blog-a-thon!
Just a reminder: Search is limited to new sites and blogs: The search will no longer include those we have mentioned already. But thanks to their regular viewers for still taking the time to let us know how much they appreciate these sites - as I mentioned, we want the fans to give us links to the new kids on the Twilight block.
- - -
I'm quite particular about blog titles. It's hard to think of a unique and interesting name for a blog, the same thing for a website. In the highly competitive community of Twilight fansites, a blogger needs to show originality and a certain daring. As they say, taking a risk could either make you or break you.
Confessions of a TwiCrack Addict is that daring and unique blog that is more than just a news provider. The blog is cool, hip, up-to-date, and has a personality all its own. Aside from the usual news available across the fandom, there are a lot of unique content that will not only inform you, but also offer entertainment value. I love the diversity of the posts!

Hello fellow Twilight fans! Yes, that means tMF loves Twilight, and we've been covering it since October 2007. By doing this Blog-a-thon, I'll have the pleasure to write my thoughts as often as I want and update you all on what's coming up.
Let me just clarify a few things and also give you an update on what we're doing that directly relates to the search...
Search is limited to new sites and blogs: The search will no longer include those we have mentioned already. But thanks to their regular viewers for still taking the time to let us know how much they appreciate these sites - as I mentioned, we want the fans to give us links to the new kids on the Twilight block.
Now on with the search, and what I have to say about some of the new sites I already had the pleasure of visiting.
Just like any ordinary Twilight fan, I do regular visits and sometimes I simply skim, and will not read articles in details. The thing is, Twilight news blogs are everywhere, and with almost identical posts. I guess, it depends on where you are most comfortable and then stick with that site when it comes to the latest news. While I tend to ignore the more juicier stuff (posts filled with rumours and innuendoes), I think many fans love them. Thus, there is a captive audience to satisfy such cravings.
What makes an awesome blog? I think, what separates the 'awesome' from the 'good' is the ability of the writer/blogger to add his distinct personality to the news. I think blogs that follow this practice generate more reactions from its readers. Whether I agree or not to the writer's views is not the issue here, it is his ability to make me react and participate on the topic he initiated. I had that pleasure when I visited the following Twilight blogs/sites:
What impressed me the most about Amanda Bell (The Twilight Examiner) is the diversity and the 'entertainment factor' that is almost always present on her articles. I also think she is not like other bloggers who simply rely on what the big sites are posting and then just go with the flow. A lot of the articles I actually read in details (which I don't often do) are thought-provoking, original and can even challenge some of my Twilight conceptual foundation.
Just look at the variety:
- Bruno and Robert Patinson's fashion sense: If you were ever curious what Bruno, that loveable scamp created by none other than the sinfully imaginative Sacha Baron Cohen, would have to say about the fashions of The Twilight Saga: New Moon and Remember Me Robert Pattinson, wonder no more. [ read more ]
- What if MTV Films had made Twilight (tMF: thank God, they didn't!) read the article here.
- The Edward versus Jacob dichotomy in 'New Moon' and 'Eclipse' : This is a personal favorite of mine: In Twilight, we got but a glimpse of the future of Edward and Jacob's distaste (or, perhaps better spun, dis-smell) for one another near the end at the prom scene. [ read more ]
- If there were to be a 'Twilight' spin-off, what would you want it to be about? I have some very strong opinions on this topic. I'll post my comment later on. [ read more ]

Here @tMF, I also make it a point to write original articles, so I am aware of how difficult it is to do that. I also wanted to make some corrections on her article about tMF's survey: I'm a he not a she! The first 3 sites (Lexicon, His Golden Eyes and Twilight Moms were the top 3 from the 1st list, while Bella and Edward, TA, and Twilighters.org were from the second Top 3 hitlist.
I think Ms. Bell ought to be commended for her work, and if you have not visited The Twilight Eaminer, then I advise you to do so...

It's time once again for an update of tMF's Top 3 Twilight Fansites list and we need your help Twilight fans! But before we go any further, here's a backgrounder: It's a fact that there are hundreds of sites related to Twilight - from domains hosted by dedicated servers to sites hosted for free like a lot of what we now have at blogspot.

I remember the first time tMF posted the Top 3 Twilight Fansite list, we were surprised at the number of fans' reactions. They came in the hundreds and wrote such awesome reviews! Back then, no major movie sites or blogs, except a few including tMF, were interested in covering Stephenie Meyer's books. See one of our earliest article on Twilight (dated October 2007 here). I was even surprised at the 'animosity' shown by what some might call the mainstream media (see example here).
Back to the list, for days we visited many sites and blogs in search of the best. So giving credit where its due, we have...
